Update

Yesterday afternoon Barry called me at work with message to contact my primary doctor about EKG results. Needless to say, I called the office immediately. The office manager would only tell me that the doctor needed to see me in person to discuss the EKG abnormality. And I was told he was not able to see me yesterday. Today was ruled out since I had an all day work related seminar. The earliest I could see anyone would be Wednesday, and that would be with the physician's assistant. I asked to speak directly to the doctor and was able to do so. He would not go into details of the findings, but only said that I would need to be seen in order to get clearance for upcoming surgery. At my persistance, I asked if I could just wait in his office until he was able to see me at end of day. He agreed and told me to come right there. I left my job at about 2:30 p.m. yesterday in tears. What else could go wrong were my thoughts?

After only about an hour, I was able to see my doctor. He basically did a physical on me, asked me if I had been experiencing shortness of breath or chest pains. And I told him no to these questions. The EKG does show some abnormality, but considering my upcoming surgery is low risk and my physical showed nothing negative he signed the release for the surgery. He has scheduled an echocardiogram for me next week. I had one of those tests right before chemo since chemotherapy drugs can damage your heart. I am very interested in finding out the results of that upcoming test. I have spoken with my sister and she had similar findings with an EKG last year and did follow up stress test. For now, I'm focused on my surgery this Thursday.

Today I was able to attend an all day seminar which was so enjoyable and informative. The guest speaker was Frank Abagnale who was portrayed in the movie Catch me if you can. Quite an interesting speaker.

Tomorrow I work and then I'm off Thursday and Friday. And on the 17th Barry and I will be going to Pittsburgh for his CT scan and follow up with specialist at hospital. A busy few days.
